Summer is here and our villages have never looked better thanks to the generosity of so many. Flowers have been planted in the urns, the cedar hedge in the Village Park has been trimmed and Riverfront Park has been weeded, bushes pruned and beds mulched. And once again American Flags fly on the beautiful bridge that links our villages.
All of this work was accomplished with volunteer labor and materials purchased with generous donations from Chamber of Commerce Members.
Our thanks are owed to:
• The Canajoharie Fort Plain Garden Club and Arkell Hall Foundation
• Richardson's Brands
• The Hearn Agency
• The Village of Canajoharie
• Doc Davis of Unique Tree Service
• Steve Kelsey of S&S Landscaping
• All the volunteers and private donors
The bulk of this work was done on Tuesday June 15. While we were working at the waterfront there were 5 boats moored there. The boaters commented on how much they enjoyed our villages - touring the museum, dining at a restaurant and eating ice cream from Stewart's. They even walked to the farmers' market on Wednesday and enjoyed buying fresh produce, eggs and bread.
Everything looks wonderful and we should all be proud of our villages. And we should all continue to represent our area in a positive light whenever we have the opportunity to share it with visitors.
For your information, the village park will now be a non-smoking area and signs will be posted shortly. Also, a special thanks to Miles Frasier for his purchase of an American Flag for the bridge in memory of his uncle Elwood Dempster who died at the Battle of the Bulge.
And finally a warm welcome to our newest member:
The Windowbox Guest House.
Sincerely,
Dolores Jacksland
